Whilst rummaging and tidying yet again, I came across this small 'medal'/award given to J.N. Yates in 1903/05 by tramways staff. I imagine this was in my nan's possession who cleaned for 'Mr. Yates' in the late 1970s; I remember the house in Barnston, Wirral - this fact has led me to the decision that it is John Noel Yates, born in Liverpool and died in Wirral in 1981. But at the age of 17 what did he do to get this?
